As you may have heard some of the hype recently about Natural Selection 2 releasing some pre-alpha tools to their Custom Level Editor dubbed the Spark Engine, we were curious enough to investigate it ourselves. Our recent Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interactive Design and Game Development member Rabbit got his review on and took a fresh look at this new engine. I really enjoyed his insights and suggested improvements which he mentions are occurring in the Spark Engine Toolset on a fairly regular basis.

Do you use more than one computer? Maybe you are you sick of using a separate mouse for your laptop? Wouldn't it be great is you could move seamlessly between the two, using one keyboard and mouse for both? Well the guys over at Synergy have a free application that will allow you to do just that! Download it here.
Their application lets you share not only input devices between two or more machines (even those with different OSes) but also a clipboard, all by harnessing the power of the network. This means that you can cut and paste between multiple computers with no problem at all. The keyboard also works normally on each screen; input goes to whichever screen has the cursor.
Worried about how this will affect the gaming with fellow 3-PGers? Don't fret, there is a scroll lock button that you can bind to a hot key that will keep the cursor and keyboard on your primary screen. Game on!

Guaranteed to make you type happier, this fully functional Keyboard for Blondes is compatible with all desktops and laptops including MAC, PC and Linux. Requires USB port and good sence of humor.
Check out the numberpad with dice symbols instead of numbers. I want that on my keyboard! To tell you the truth, you'd really have to be a geek to really appreciate it but if you know a geek gal, your going to want to keep her. Get her this.

For the past couple of months it would appear that ATI would be winning the graphics card war with their success of their higher end 48xx card lineups including the 4850, 4870, and 4870x2. Nvidia struggled to keep up with ATI mainly due to price point as the more equal Nvidia cards were usually priced higher than their competitor.
It seems however with the soon to b launch of the ati 4890, that Nvidia has learned their lesson about launches and price points. The 4890 will debut at $249.99 which is what the 4870 debuted at 10 months ago. Nvidia is set to release their GTX 275 series card on April 11, and they are hinting at the last second that it should be released at around the same price.
Both cards offer only a incremental jump from their lower series cards, which is about 10%. Whether the extra $80 is worth it or not will up to the consumer. Nvidia can only hope however that with its lineup at reduced pricing that it will be able to take some of ATI's stolen market share.

Today marks another great start of the great Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA. This conference, that lasts a week ( March 23rd-27th ), is a place where most large developers come to show off what they are doing, the games they are building, and possibly the innovation they have been researching. Publishers are there as well, marketing their products by handing out hinting images or viral websites. Most of the time the sessions are spent teaching other developers and artists tricks from art pipelines all the way up to next generation programming and everything in between. Stay tuned to GDC news this week, most of the information sessions are great eye openers to non Game designers.
